Interpretation services

Welcome to EgyTranscript’s interpretation service main page. We will attempt here to help you identify the different Interpretation services that EgyTranscript offers and their definitions from our point of view; accordingly you can choose the interpretation service that best meets your requirements and budget. Interpreting takes place when one person orally or verbally translates what he or she hears into another language. Similar to Translation there is the Source Language (SL) and the Target Language (TL) many people get confused about the difference between translation and interpretation. The difference however is very simple: translation is written down whereas interpretation is spoken.

What is Interpreting?

Interpreting is the oral rendering of spoken word meanings from one language into the other. Interpreting or interpretation can be conducted in a number of different modes, to suit different situations. Our interpretation service is the practice of facilitating oral communication, either simultaneously or consecutively, between two or more individuals or parties with a different mother-tong. Nowadays interpreting services are becoming more and more crucial to our daily life.

Professional Interpreting

In professional practice, interpreting facilitates communication between individuals who speak different languages by providing interpretations from one language into its equivalent, or approximate equivalent, meaning in another language. The message as thus rendered into speech, if you need an interpreter it is most important to decide which mode of Interpretation service best suits your needs and purposes. EgyTranscript provides several interpreting modes amongst which you can choose; which best suits you.

Allow us to define who a Language Interpreter is?

Language interpreters are professional individuals who convert a thought or expression of a source language into an equivalent meaning in a target language in "real time". The interpreter's function is to convey semantic elements (tone and register) and every intention and feeling of the message that the source-language speaker is directing to the target-language audience.
In order to interpret the interpreter must be able to receive and understand the incoming message and then express it’s meaning in the target language. To accomplish this task, the interpreter must go through an overlapping series of cognitive processing activities, including:

•    Attending to the Message
•    Remembering the Message
•    Comprehending it
•    Analyzing the meaning
•    Visualizing the message
•    And producing final target language

Simultaneous interpreting

The most frequently requested mode; in this mode of interpretation the interpreter sits in a booth and listens to what the speaker is saying in his source language using headphones, the message is simultaneously provided in the target language through a microphone that provides the interpretation to the listeners through their special headsets. Though most people may be more familiar with this mode of interpreting, it is the most anonymous and impersonal type of interpreting where the interpreter unseen sitting in his soundproof booth. The advantages of simultaneous interpreting are basically saving time since the communication is relayed at once and both speaker and interpreter are heard practically at the same time. This mode is often used in conferences, seminars, forums and events. The term conference interpreting refers to the use of simultaneous interpreting EgyTranscript’s conference interpreting is the most prestigious form of interpreting. This mode however, simultaneous interpreting, requires special interpreting equipment, headphones, microphones, mixers and booths. This helps the interpreter to render their interpretation while still receiving the source utterance.

Consecutive Interpretation

Consecutive interpreting begins only after the speaker has verbalized a group of words or sentences forming a thoughtful unit, and consecutive interpreters often take down notes during his speech, therefore most professional consecutive interpreters have developed some type of note-taking or shorthand system which along with their retaliation memory helps in relaying the message. This form of interpretation is often used during one-to-one communications, during which the interpreter is positioned in between or slightly behind both parties. The interpreter begins his interpretation after the speaker has stopped producing his utterance, at that time the interpreter is the only person in the communication environment who is producing a sound.

Comparing Consecutive to Simultaneous

The main difference between consecutive and simultaneous interpreting is the lapse time between the delivery of both messages provided by the speaker and the interpreter. While this is a significant difference, it is more challenging for the interpreter, at their roots both modes of interpreting stem from the same set of cognitive processes. Simultaneous Interpreting is suitable for conferences, speeches and public presentations; while Consecutive Interpreting is more important for events where personal contact or training are deemed valuable for communicating during a two-way conversation.

Whisper interpreting

This is where the simultaneous interpreter is allocated to a small group of individuals, and interprets what is being said simultaneously in a whisper, this privileges that the professional interpreter does not interfere with the conference’s or meeting’s proceedings. Because it is so non-intrusive, this type of interpreting is becoming increasingly popular by the day. In whispered interpreting, the interpreter practically provides simultaneous interpretation without the use of technical equipment.
Whisper interpretation represents involves a number of techniques those similar to ones used in simultaneous interpreting but as mentioned no equipment is needed to perform this translation mode. The interpreter sits or stands next or behind the group listening to the source-language and simultaneously whispers his interpretation of the subject matter on hand. His audience may be as small as one individual listening to the interpretation or as many as four but not more than that, since the speaker’s sound may cause distortion in the background.

When translating from Arabic to English or vice versa there are many things that need to taken into consideration.
A question that many people ask is: Which way should Arabic be written?
Arabic is written and reads from right to left, letters are always joined and can't be separated or split across lines. In some documents specially ones that include detailed designs such as graphs or pictures there are other things to consider; such as:
•    Repositioning of Images
•    Page numbering would be in the middle (centered) or on the left hand side
Then another question that is frequently brought up: Does the text become longer or shorter? See more on
